Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Calls for Action Against Quran Desecration
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan has urged Sweden to take firm action against the disrespectful act of desecrating the Holy Quran. He has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for an unbiased inquiry.
The condemnation follows an incident in Stockholm, Sweden, where a man showed disrespect towards the Holy Quran. The act has received widespread condemnation from several countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Iraq, and Iran. The Swedish government itself has condemned the incident, labeling it as an act of Islamophobia.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), consisting of 57 member states, held an extraordinary meeting in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of collective measures to prevent such acts of desecration. They highlighted the use of international law to combat religious hatred and called upon member states to unite in taking action to prevent future incidents of Quran desecration.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the incident on behalf of the Pakistani government, describing it as a reprehensible act. He drew attention to the presence of Islamophobia and the challenges faced by Muslims, who are a minority in Sweden. He urged the Swedish government to respond decisively to this incident and address the issue of discrimination.
