Arrest Following Viral Video in the UAE
The UAE's Federal Prosecution for Combating Rumours and Cybercrimes has arrested an individual of Asian descent following the rotation of a viral video on social media. The video showed the person displaying a large amount of cash inside a luxury car exchange in the UAE.
The individual is indicted of "misusing the internet" by participating in the video, which UAE authorities claim incites public opinion and poses a trouble to public weal. Additionally, the Asian expat is facing charges for spreading content that goes against the country's "approved media norms" and shows discourteousness towards Emirati society.
The UAE Attorney General's Office examined the video, which captures the individual wearing traditional Emirati apparel and a face mask as they enter the luxury car exchange. In the background, two people can be seen carrying what appears to be a significant sum of cash.
