Passengers Asked to Leave the Flight

A UK-based airline, EasyJet, asked 19 passengers to leave a flight from Lanzarote to Liverpool because the airplane was considered "too heavy" to take off.

Delayed Departure and Voluntary Opt-out

The incident happened on July 5 due to poor weather conditions and the weight of the aircraft. The scheduled departure time of 9:45 PM was delayed, and the aircraft didn't leave the Spanish airport until 11:30 PM after passengers were asked to voluntarily choose not to fly.

Pilot's Explanation

A passenger recorded a video where the pilot addressed the situation, thanking everyone on board and explaining the reasons for the delay. He mentioned that the aircraft was heavy due to the number of passengers. The pilot said that it was impossible to fly under the current wind conditions due to safety concerns.

The pilot emphasized that they considered safety as the most important aspect and explained that the aircraft's weight, short runway in Lanzarote, and adverse wind conditions prevented takeoff. To solve the problem, the pilot mentioned that they discussed making the aircraft slightly lighter with their operations team.
