The International Cricket Council (ICC) has embarked on an extraordinary start to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour 2023. The iconic World Cup trophy was sent soaring 120,000 feet up into the stratosphere, suspended from a special balloon. This breathtaking spectacle captivated onlookers as the trophy embarked on a remarkable journey through space. After its thrilling adventure, the trophy finally arrived at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The official tour will commence on Tuesday with the highly-anticipated release of the World Cup schedule in Mumbai. Over the next few months, the trophy will travel to 18 countries, including Pakistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, the United States, France, Italy, and the host nation, India.
It is noteworthy that this marks the first complete Trophy Tour since 2019, as previous years were constrained by the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. This eagerly-awaited tour offers fans worldwide the incredible opportunity to get up-close and personal with the coveted trophy.
During the ascent of the balloon, approximately 4,000 cameras were attached to capture captivating footage of the trophy at the edge of the Earth's atmosphere.
